Where are the Legal Heat iPhone & Android Apps?!?

03/08/12 UPDATES:

  • The iPhone/iPad app is available!!! Search the App Store for “Legal Heat” or click here to download it now. It will only be free for another couple of days (after which time it will revert to the usual $1.99 price), so spread the word!
  • We have FINALLY found a quality Android developer and work is progressing on porting it over to the Android platform. I assume it won’t take very long but I do not have an estimate at this time.
  • We will have several improvements to both apps in the near future (some of which will be coming in the next week or so). We want to make this the one stop shop for mobile resources and appreciate all of your patience as we work out the kinks.

01/18/12 UPDATE: The lawsuit is moving along and we are spending all day tomorrow (01-19-12) finishing the app. When it is completed we’ll make sure we let everyone know. Thank you for your patience.

For the past two years the Legal Heat iPhone and Android apps have been by far the most popular apps in their genre. Unfortunately a few months ago we had an unfortunate experience with a less than forthright developer (whom we are currently filing a lawsuit against) and he removed our apps from the market. This developer’s actions resulted in a complete loss of our user base (thousands of users) as well as forced us to hire a new programer to rebuild our app. It has been a LONG and EXPENSIVE process, but the Legal Heat iPhone & iPad apps are nearly completed and we are hoping they will be available by February 2012. The Android app is taking a little longer, but we hope to have it available shortly thereafter.

If you are a past user of Legal Heat unfortunately your current version will not be receiving any more updates (once again, this is due to our developer unilaterally deleting the app from the market). HOWEVER, the new app will be free of charge for the first 60 days, so make sure to delete the old and install the new when it becomes available.

To whet your appetite while you wait for it to be released, below are some of the improved features the new version of Legal Heat: 50 State Guide to Firearm Laws will feature:

  • Automatic updates: When a law changes you will no longer need to wait several weeks for Apple to approve an update. Your app will update automatically when you open it, and will cache the information for viewing when you are outside a network area.
  • MUCH better looking pages: The professionally designed state pages will be much easier to read and look night and day better than our old app.
  • Video training overviews: The transport laws page now not only includes summaries of the laws regarding transporting a firearm, but also features video overviews that walk you through the process step by step.
  • Much more! We have a lot of features up our sleeve, and now that we’ve got a quality developer we guarantee any inconvenience caused by our app woes will be quickly forgotten.

I became pretty excited when I read this and received an email from you. Since then I’ve been checking the App Store every day or two. When can we expect this to be available?

Any news on a release date for the Android version?

I for one thank you for taking upon yourselves to develop such a useful app for mobile devices. As everyone knows the laws change quickly and so often it can be difficult to keep up. I’m looking forward to the re-release.
